Pregnancy Yoga
Personal pre and post natal yoga, tailored to your needs at this special time.
Providing you with the support you need during your pregnancy and taking care of you, after the birth of your baby.
Yoga asana, during pregnancy, uses classic poses that have been adapted for safe and sustainable practise. It aims to promote strength, stability, stillness of mind and a lasting bond with baby. Sessions are gentle & supportive, with a combination of flowing yoga, breath work, visualisations, meditation and relaxation.
In your tailored session we will find yoga asana that are comfortable for you, and that are appropriate for your stage of pregnancy. We’ll also work with the breath, relaxation and perhaps meditation, if you find it helpful. At each stage of pregnancy, you’ll have different needs, and we’ll carefully choose asana (poses) that are safe for you at this time. I’ll provide you with a reminder sheet of what we’ve covered, so that you can safely repeat the exercises at home in between our sessions.
When the time is right, we’ll also include birth preparation and consider how a partner may be able to assist you. And we can also think about about what you’d like to have in your birth pack. It’s good to have options available to use when you need them. If you’d like an audio, to help with breath work or relaxation, just let me know.
During your session please wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to move in. Bring or have available at home, a blanket and/or cushions to make youself comfortable for any floor work, relaxation or meditation, if you wish to. Please let me know if you’d like to borrow a mat and I’ll bring a spare one along for you.
No previous experience of yoga is required, but there will be occasions when pre and post natal yoga is not safe, due to a medical condition. I recomend that you discuss this with your midwife, doctor or medical practitioner, if you have any concerns. And if you have any questions, please do get in touch and I’ll help you to decide what’s right for you at this time.
Timings and Prices
During this special time, most people have a session once every 4 or 5 weeks, but you can choose what’s right for you. And we can adjust our timings depending on which trimester you’re in. Pregnancy yoga can start once you’re pasted 14 weeks. Starting post natal yoga depends on your birth experience. So get in touch, and we can chat about when is the right time is for you.
If you have a session every 4 – 5 weeks, it works out to be about the same price as your normal weekly yoga class, but with the benefit of having a tailored session, a classplan to use in between sessions and having yoga at home. And I’m available over e-mail if you need any support, or if your health changes and an update to your plan is needed.
Private sessions cost £65, including travel and classplan.
Private sessions are available in your home, in the Burford area. Please get in touch to see if you are in the area I cover. Beyond this area, I have to charge extra to cover the costs of travel.
For further information, please contact me by e-mail. I’d love to meet you.
