Whichever format you choose, you’ll be gently guided through various mindfulness and meditation practices. These may include working with the breath, sound, visualisations, body scan, mindful movement and meta as a few examples. We also seek to understand the practices and why they work, exploring the science as well as the philosophy behind them.
During the practices you either sit, stand or lie depending on the exercise. These positions can be modified to suit you. And in between the exercises there is the opportunity for discussion, sharing and questions. Please contribute as much or as little as feels right for you.
Suitable for complete beginners and for those reconnecting to their practice. All are welcome.

What do I need to bring?
You are very welcome to bring a drink or a blanket with you if you wish. If you use a meditation stool, cushion or mat at home, please do bring it along with you so that you are comfortable. You can either sit in a chair or on a meditation cushion on the floor during our sessions. Sometimes we will do an exercise lying down on mats and if you don’t have a mat, you are very welcome to borrow one or use a blanket. If lying down isn’t comfortable for you then you can sit in a comfortable chairs.
What is mindfulness & meditation and how does it help me?
Mindfulness is being in the moment (or being present) and knowing what’s happening while it’s happening. Bringing non-judgemental awarement to the present moment. So, we can be mindful in all aspects of our lives. In order to meditate we must be mindful, aware of mind and body.
Mindfulness and meditation have been scientifically proven to have many benefits and we’ve included a few below.
- Reducing stress and anxiety
- Improving focus and concentration
- Managing anger
- Teaching us to respond rather than to react
- Managing pain
- Improving communication
- Creating feelings of calm and relaxation
